THE HEART OF THE PRACTICE

Liz, owner of River Yoga, teacher of yoga for over 20 years, and co-author of the book, For the Love of Food and Yoga, will share her knowledge of yoga asana, pranayama, meditation and philosophy in the intimate and inspiring Italian countryside.

Learn more about Liz

This retreat is set in a beautiful, finely renovated 17th century masseria (farmhouse), located a short distance from Martina Franca, a town halfway between the Adriatic and Ionic Sea. Immersed in the peaceful and tranquil Valle D’Itria countryside, the 14 acres property features: a manor house with several large common areas, a small church with original frescoes, an old stone barn that has been converted into a large and bright Yoga Shala, a private forest with meditation path, a swimming pool, and several areas to relax and meditate, including hammocks, poolside cabanas, outdoor lounges, and easy chairs under olive trees.

Throughout the retreat we will indulge in delicious vegetarian cuisine based on the pH alkaline diet prepared with locally-sourced products and organic ingredients. We’ll have the opportunity to explore Southern Italy through several optional excursions showcasing the beauty of the area, including visits to local markets, olive oil farms, the famous Ceramics District in Grottalie, Bauxite caves on the Ionic seaside, the ancient town of Matera, and the famous white town of Ostuni, as well as hiking in Pianelle Forest.

Matera (cost: ~85 Euros)
Full-day tour around the interesting and unusual ancient town of Matera, an old cave-dwelling district where hundreds of families lived in cave-houses until the 1950s.
