Join Lisa Messina and Jane Thibodeau for a nourishing adventure on the stunning shores of Lake Atitlan. Day 1

Drive to the lake and enjoy transportation in a local taxi-boat across the lake to beautiful Villa Sumaya. Check-in, get settled and join the group for an Opening Circle and dinner.

Day 2

Start the day with a daily, therapeutic mobility practice. Delight in a nutritious breakfast, followed by orientation to Villa Sumaya. Take some free time after lunch to rest, indulge in spa services, explore the local town, or kayak on the lake. Meet with the group for an afternoon practice/workshop, followed by dinner and free time. 

Day 3

Begin the day with a morning mobility practice followed by breakfast. A private boat will take the group to San Marcos where you'll be treated to a tour of a local coffee co-op to learn about coffee & chocolate production. Take some free time to explore the town after lunch before returning to Villa Sumaya for dinner. ​

Day 4

The day starts with our morning mobility practice and breakfast, followed by an excursion to San Juan, where we'll visit female-run co-ops to learn about traditional textile weaving, beekeeping and honey production, local art, and more. Free time in the afternoon can be used to continue exploring the town before returning to Villa Sumaya for dinner. 


Day 5

Participate in a traditional Mayan Fire Ceremony led by a Mayan Shaman. Take some free time to reflect on the experience, then enjoy lunch and an afternoon practice/workshop. Ample free time is available in the afternoon for individual activities, including spa services, hiking, kayaking, and more. 

Day 6 

Morning mobility practice is followed by breakfast and private boat transportation to San Pedro. In San Pedro, we'll take a tour of the market with a local chef, buying ingredients and then returning to her house to learn to cook typical Guatemalan food. Take advantage of free time to explore San Pedro before heading back to Villa Sumaya. 

Day 7 

Morning mobility practice followed by breakfast and free time. Join the group for lunch and a closing circle in the afternoon.

Day 8

Finish the retreat with one final mobility practice before breakfast and checkout at 11am. Travel home or continue exploring Guatemala.

What's included:

  • 7 nights in luxury accommodations. All rooms include private bathroom, lake view, and inspiring outdoor space

  • 3 meals per day. A vegetarian-based, eclectic blend of local and international cuisine created from Guatemala’s local fruit and vegetables (chicken and fish available at extra cost)

  • Daily therapeutic movement practices and body-based healing offered in a sacred and inspiring atmosphere (includes an accessible blend of yoga, pilates, mobility training, restorative, meditation, and relational practices)

  • Props for practice (2 Yoga Tune-Up massage therapy balls, 1 Coregeous massage and Pilates ball, 1 Theraband)

  • Traditional Mayan Fire Ceremony led by a Mayan Shaman

  • Excursions to towns around the lake: (all excursions include private transportation and lunch)

    • Explore San Marcos la Laguna and enjoy a tour to learn about coffee and chocolate production

    • Visit San Juan la Laguna to learn about traditional woven textiles, traditional medicinal plants, local honey production, and Mayan art

    • Travel to San Pedro la Laguna to try your hand at cooking traditional Guatemalan food through a market tour and cooking class

  • Flights to/from Guatemala

  • Transportation to/from Villa Sumaya (we can help coordinate)

  • On-site spa services at Harmony Spa

  • Other Spiritual Ceremonies available at Villa Sumaya (Cacao Ceremony, Chichimeca Sweat Lodge Ceremony)

  • Wifi ($3/day or $20/week)

  • Staff tips ($7-$10 per guest per day is suggested)

A $500.00 US non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot.

Payment Schedule:

A $700 US non-refundable second payment is due on November 1st, 2019

The remaining balance is due January 1st, 2020
